The new G and T charts in Minitab
16.2 make it easy to assess the stability of processes
that involve rare events. Hospitals, for example,
monitor medication errors, infections, patient falls,
ventilator-associated pneumonias, and other uncommon
adverse events that cause prolonged stays and increased
costs.
The charts are simple to create
and use. The only data required to produce a G chart is
either the dates on which the rare events occurred or
the number of opportunities between occurrences. For
continuous data, use a T chart instead of a G chart.
A new article on
our site explains how you can use G and T
charts to effectively monitor processes and detect
instability when it occurs.

Precise
Experiments for a Precision Process: Bobcat
Company
The
laser-machining process at a Bobcat facility produced
acceptable quality at an acceptable rate, but a
significant amount of work still needed to be
outsourced. Boosting output from the facility’s
laser-cutting machines would yield substantial savings.
Learn how a Master Black Belt at Bobcat used Minitab to
find the "sweet spot" that would give both faster laser
processing and better cut quality.

ANSWER
"Quality Companion is a
natural complement to Minitab, but its
functionality, flexibility and user
friendliness were the main attractions for
us. By setting out the DMAIC structure in
Companion’s Roadmap and pointing the user towards
Companion’s built-in recommended tools, quality
improvement projects are much easier, especially
for Green Belts, saving valuable time and
increasing project efficiency and effectiveness."
